Fourth of July flicks…and a wave goodbye

I hope everyone has a fantastic Fourth of July and stays safe with all those crazy fireworks!  LOL.  In honor of the day, I thought I’d post a few movies to curl up with today or tonight.  Some might be your thing, some not.  Some are more subtle than others, but all have something to do with today…sort of.  🙂

Red Dawn – my hubby’s favorite movie.  Kids having to become revolutionaries, with a young Charlie Sheen and Patrick Swayze.

Die Hard – how much more patriotic can you get, with Bruce Willis walking on glass!

Tears of the Sun – just because it’s another Bruce Willis movie, and he’s awesome in this as a “Seal” type special ops.

Yankee Doodle Dandy – old but classic.

Jaws – at first thought you say “Wha–??”  But it took place during a July 4th celebration, if you remember.

The Patriot – Mel Gibson in one of his best movies… good father/son movie too.

Independence Day – Well, duh.  Saving the world.  Will Smith.

Born On The Fourth Of July – Mmm, only because of the title and topic. Wasn’t my fave but felt obligated to list it.

The Music Man – Gotta mention this one!!

Flags of Our Fathers – Very emotional and intense war movie.

National Treasure (both) – Light hearted and fun and adventurous, and by far my favorite on this list.  Nicholas Cage finding treasure right under our American landmarks.  Secret codes in Presidential books!  And it’s Nicholas Cage!

So enjoy, and feel free to comment with your own favorites!

And before I go, in honor of one of America’s most beloved icons on this very American day….  RIP Andy Griffith.   You made us all smile a little more.  You will be missed.

Happy 4th of July to everyone. Hope you’re enjoying great weather, good company, yummy food, and firewords. 🙂

  4. Happy Birthday America! As for me, I watched some educational show about the Reolutionary War. Given the odds, it’s truly amazing we won; a testament to our perseverance of spirit.
